Soldering Aluminum

There is a very specific type of flux that is needed when soldering to aluminum. Said flux must contain Zinc Chloride, which is the specific activator that effectively etches the aluminum and allows the formation of the intermetallics needed for a strong solder joint.

Does solder stick to Aluminium?

Aluminum needs heat to accept solder, usually to the tune of 300°C or more. And you want to be measuring the temperature of the aluminum, not your heat source. Aluminum is a great heat sink, so the heat source will need to be even higher to get the aluminum up to the right temperature.
